Is this YOUR America?

I'm trying to get all this political stuff straightened out in my head so I'll know how to vote come November. Right now, we have one guy saying one thing. Then the other guy says something else. Who to believe. Lemme see; have I got this straight?

  • Clinton awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Yugoslavia - good...
  • Bush awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Iraq - bad...

  • Clinton spends 77 billion on war in Serbia - good...
  • Bush spends 87 billion in Iraq - bad...

  • Clinton imposes regime change in Serbia - good...
  • Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...

  • Clinton bombs Christian Serbs on behalf of Muslim Albanian terrorists-good...
  • Bush liberates 25 million from a genocidal dictator -bad...

  • Clinton bombs Chinese embassy - good...
  • Bush bombs terrorist camps - bad...

  • Clinton commits felonies while in office - good...

  • Stock market crashes in 2000 under Clinton - good...
  • Economy on upswing under Bush - bad...

  • Clinton refuses to take custody of Bin Laden - good...
  • World Trade Centers fall under Bush - bad...

  • Clinton says Saddam has nukes - good...
  • Bush says Saddam has nukes - bad...

  • Clinton calls for regime change in Iraq - good...
  • Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...

  • Terrorist training in Afghanistan under Clinton - good...
  • Bush destroys training camps in Afghanistan - bad...

  • Milosevic not yet convicted - good...
  • Saddam turned over for trial - bad...

Ahh, it's so confusing!

Every year an independent tax watchdog group analyzes the average tax burden on Americans, and then calculates the "Tax Freedom Day". This is the day after which the money you earn goes to you, not the government. This year, tax freedom day was April 11th. That's the earliest it has been since 1991. It's latest day ever was May 2nd, which occurred in 2000. Notice anything special about those dates?

Recently, John Kerry gave a speech in which he claimed Americans are actually paying more taxes under Bush, despite the tax cuts. He gave no explanation and provided no data for this claim. Another interesting fact: Both George Bush and John Kerry are wealthy men.

Bush owns only one home, his ranch in Texas.
Kerry owns 4 mansions, all worth several million dollars. (His ski resort home in Idaho is an old barn brought over from Europe in pieces. Not your average A-frame).

Bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year
Kerry paid $90,000.

Does that sound right? The man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has figured out a way to avoid paying his own.

Is this the America you want for yourself, your family and your future generations? I can still remember a time when the day after the election we reunited as a country behind the PRESIDENT... not our candidate. As I see remarks like "We will not see riots IF we elect a democrat" from prominent people from the current opposition party, I begin to worry that the desire to regain political power by a party is so powerful that they will destroy the very fabric of our democracy (or threaten same) in order to win. This seems to be the very same tactics that are employed by the terrorists we are determined to overcome! I want my leaders to be people I can look up to. I don't want people I can point to and say they are no better than me... maybe that is naieve, but I think we should respect the institutions even when we don't agree with the current ruling party. I also think we need to hold those whom we have given special considerations (like the press) to a much higher standard... failure or manipulation at that level can NOT go unchallenged!!!

Now here are some interesting contradictions... have we all been blinded by our own bias, or is there really something going on here? I suspect that if we don't deal with the political and mainstream media terrorism going on right here at home, we won't need to worry about world-wide terrorism that is approaching quickly in the rear-view mirror... remember the warning on that mirror? "Caution, objects in the mirror are closer than they appear..."

In any case, no matter what your persuasion is... VOTE!!!! America may not be able to withstand another close election - for the good of the country (not any one candidate or political party), we need a CLEAR SIGNAL from the people.... we do NOT need this decided by Congress OR lawyers OR judges... it is OUR country... remember... "WE THE PEOPLE..." - if we tolerate a few people hi-jacking the process then we deserve what we wind up with....

Have a nice day :-)

Democracy optional, participation required..

We have something to lose... VOTE! Not voting is not a protest, it is abdication. Sorry it took such a long time for me to figure that one out... and based on the statistics, I have not been alone. Time to get the boat righted, and the sails set and trimmed... remember:

CHARACTER COUNTS
... it may take some time to clean out the sewer WE THE PEOPLE created in Washington... but if we start now but voting for people of CHARACTER at every level of government, in the next couple of generations it will be our habit to pick good people again... not just very wealthy people who promise us something they can not give us without taking it away from someone else... I don't know about you, but I want opportunity, not a safety net.

Fighting the war IS social security...

In case we forget, 19 dedicated men and 4 airplanes crippled this country 3 years ago... all the talk about health care, social security, jobs means NOTHING unless we are as committed to stopping them as they are of killing us... until then, politics as usual should NOT be politics as usual... we need to be the UNITED STATES again... reasonable people can disagree... haters will only destroy us all...
